Default Is that job really worth applying for?

These days there is lots of talk about how to be the best candidate you can be and vying for that open job opportunity. According to the Department of Labor there are 6.1 job applicants for each available job opportunity. Not really good odds of being successful are they? So the question begs to be asked is that job really worth applying for?

What most job seekers do not realize is that working for a company may not be all its cracked up to be. Over 60% of the jobs available are with small businesses and many of those small businesses are comprised of 1 or 2 people running them. So, given the current state of job economy many people are looking at new and creative ways to find employment. For many that leads them to starting their own business.

They say necessity is the mother of all inventions, and while jobs are scarce there are still needs for services and products that individuals can provide. For example, take an administrative assistant who was laid off from a major corporation a few months ago, and has been caught up in the wave of layoffs over the past few years at other organizations too. They are feed up and tired of being controlled by companies’ whims and needs of the moment. There is still a need for their services but maybe in a different capacity. Why not be a virtual assistant? Take Gazelle Simmons, a successful administrative assistant, she had many years of corporate experience but became feed up with the corporate politics but still remained passionate about what she did. She took her skills and parlayed them into providing the same outstanding services but on her terms with no employers maintaining the right to terminate her. She can just move on and find other clients to service or even service multiple clients at one time http://www.admnsrvcs.com.

What is interesting is that Gazelle has taken it one step further compounding her initiatives. She has taken her skills as a virtual assistant and transformed that into helping others take the same steps she did. Gazelle created an e-book specifically focused on guiding people to make the transition to become a virtual assistant themselves, http://vatools.frugaladnetwork.com/index.php/book-intro. As mentioned previously, necessity is the mother of all inventions and Gazelle has taken that invention and supersized it.

As all the downsizing continues and unemployment continues to rise over 16% in some states, right now might just be the time to take that leap of faith to becoming your own boss and achieving your dreams. So we ask is that job really worth applying for?
